The race happens like this: 1) A program opens a file descriptor for a file and then spawns two threads (with the pthreads library for example), lets call them task A and task B; 2) Task A calls lseek with SEEK_DATA or SEEK_HOLE and ends up at file.c:find_desired_extent() while holding a read lock on the inode; 3) At the start of find_desired_extent(), it extracts the file's private_data pointer into a local variable named 'private', which has a value of NULL; 4) Task B also calls lseek with SEEK_DATA or SEEK_HOLE, locks the inode in shared mode and enters file.c:find_desired_extent(), where it also extracts file->private_data into its local variable 'private', which has a NULL value; 5) Because it saw a NULL file private, task A allocates a private structure and assigns to the file structure; 6) Task B also saw a NULL file private so it also allocates its own file private and then assigns it to the same file structure, since both tasks are using the same file descriptor. At this point we leak the private structure allocated by task A. Besides the memory leak, there's also the detail that both tasks end up using the same cached state record in the private structure (struct btrfs_file_private::llseek_cached_state), which can result in a use-after-free problem since one task can free it while the other is still using it (only one task took a reference count on it). Also, sharing the cached state is not a good idea since it could result in incorrect results in the future - right now it should not be a problem because it end ups being used only in extent-io-tree.c:count_range_bits() where we do range validation before using the cached state. Fix this by protecting the private assignment and check of a file while holding the inode's spinlock and keep track of the task that allocated the private, so that it's used only by that task in order to prevent user-after-free issues with the cached state record as well as potentially using it incorrectly in the future. [PATCH v2 1/4] drm/xe/ct: prevent UAF in send_recv()

Ensure we serialize with completion side to prevent UAF with fence going out of scope on the stack, since we have no clue if it will fire after the timeout before we can erase from the xa. Also we have some dependent loads and stores for which we need the correct ordering, and we lack the needed barriers. [PATCH 6.1 0/2] io_uring/io-wq: respect cgroup cpusets

Hi, as discussed in [1], this is a manual backport of the remaining two patches to let the io worker threads respect the affinites defined by the cgroup of the process. In 6.1 one worker is created per NUMA node, while in da64d6db3bd3 ("io_uring: One wqe per wq") this is changed to only have a single worker. As this patch is pretty invasive, Jens and me agreed to not backport it. Instead we now limit the workers cpuset to the cpus that are in the intersection between what the cgroup allows and what the NUMA node has. This leaves the question what to do in case the intersection is empty: To be backwarts compatible, we allow this case, but restrict the cpumask of the poller to the cpuset defined by the cgroup. We further believe this is a reasonable decision, as da64d6db3bd3 drops the NUMA awareness anyways. AMD drm patch workflow is broken for stable trees

Hi all, As some of you have noticed, there's a TON of failure messages being sent out for AMD gpu driver commits that are tagged for stable backports. In short, you all are doing something really wrong with how you are tagging these. Please fix it up to NOT have duplicates in multiple branches that end up in Linus's tree at different times. Or if you MUST do that, then give us a chance to figure out that it IS a duplicate. As-is, it's not working at all, and I think I need to just drop all patches for this driver that are tagged for stable going forward and rely on you all to provide a proper set of backported fixes when you say they are needed. Again, what you are doing today is NOT ok and is broken. Please fix. greg k-h

Not every I2C controller can handle an arbitrary sized write, this is the case on Qualcomm CAMSS/CCI I2C sensor interfaces which limit the transaction size and communicate this limit via I2C quirks. A simple fix to optionally break up the large submitted burst into chunks not exceeding adapter->quirk size fixes. Secondly then is addition of a yaml description for the ov08x40 and extension of the driver to support OF probe and powering on of the power rails from the driver instead of from ACPI. Once done the sensor works without further modification on the Qualcomm x1e80100 CRD. Make sure to wait for the DMA transfer to complete when cancelling the rx command on stop_rx(). But that commit is using bitmap_cut() which will do the left shift of the larger bitmap, causing incorrect values. Thankfully this bitmap_cut() is only called for debug usage, and so far it's not yet causing problem. Fix it to use bitmap_read() to only grab the desired sub-bitmap.
