[PATCH net-next v6 0/3] Threads support in proc connector

Recently we committed a fix to allow processes to receive notifications for non-zero exits via the process connector module. Commit is a4c9a56e6a2c. However, for threads, when it does a pthread_exit(&exit_status) call, the kernel is not aware of the exit status with which pthread_exit is called. It is sent by child thread to the parent process, if it is waiting in pthread_join(). Hence, for a thread exiting abnormally, kernel cannot send notifications to any listening processes. The exception to this is if the thread is sent a signal which it has not handled, and dies along with it's process as a result; for eg. SIGSEGV or SIGKILL. In this case, kernel is aware of the non-zero exit and sends a notification for it. For our use case, we cannot have parent wait in pthread_join, one of the main reasons for this being that we do not want to track normal pthread_exit(), which could be a very large number. We only want to be notified of any abnormal exits. Hence, threads are created with pthread_attr_t set to PTHREAD_CREATE_DETACHED. [PATCH RFT v11 0/8] fork: Support shadow stacks in clone3()

The kernel has recently added support for shadow stacks, currently x86 only using their CET feature but both arm64 and RISC-V have equivalent features (GCS and Zicfiss respectively), I am actively working on GCS[1]. With shadow stacks the hardware maintains an additional stack containing only the return addresses for branch instructions which is not generally writeable by userspace and ensures that any returns are to the recorded addresses. This provides some protection against ROP attacks and making it easier to collect call stacks. These shadow stacks are allocated in the address space of the userspace process. Our API for shadow stacks does not currently offer userspace any flexiblity for managing the allocation of shadow stacks for newly created threads, instead the kernel allocates a new shadow stack with the same size as the normal stack whenever a thread is created with the feature enabled. The stacks allocated in this way are freed by the kernel when the thread exits or shadow stacks are disabled for the thread. This lack of flexibility and control isn't ideal, in the vast majority of cases the shadow stack will be over allocated and the implicit allocation and deallocation is not consistent with other interfaces. As far as I can tell the interface is done in this manner mainly because the shadow stack patches were in development since before clone3() was implemented. Since clone3() is readily extensible let's add support for specifying a shadow stack when creating a new thread or process, keeping the current implicit allocation behaviour if one is not specified either with clone3() or through the use of clone(). The user must provide a shadow stack pointer, this must point to memory mapped for use as a shadow stackby map_shadow_stack() with an architecture specified shadow stack token at the top of the stack. [PATCH] selftests/lam: Test get_user() LAM pointer handling

Recent change in how get_user() handles pointers [1] has a specific case for LAM. It assigns a different bitmask that's later used to check whether a pointer comes from userland in get_user(). While currently commented out (until LASS [2] is merged into the kernel) it's worth making changes to the LAM selftest ahead of time. Add test case to LAM that utilizes a ioctl (FIOASYNC) syscall which uses get_user() in its implementation. Execute the syscall with differently tagged pointers to verify that valid user pointers are passing through and invalid kernel/non-canonical pointers are not. Code was tested on a Sierra Forest Xeon machine that's LAM capable. The test was ran without issues with both the LAM lines from [1] untouched and commented out. The test was also ran without issues with LAM_SUP both enabled and disabled. [PATCH v5 00/13] iommufd: Add vIOMMU infrastructure (Part-1)

This series introduces a new vIOMMU infrastructure and related ioctls. IOMMUFD has been using the HWPT infrastructure for all cases, including a nested IO page table support. Yet, there're limitations for an HWPT-based structure to support some advanced HW-accelerated features, such as CMDQV on NVIDIA Grace, and HW-accelerated vIOMMU on AMD. Even for a multi-IOMMU environment, it is not straightforward for nested HWPTs to share the same parent HWPT (stage-2 IO pagetable), with the HWPT infrastructure alone: a parent HWPT typically hold one stage-2 IO pagetable and tag it with only one ID in the cache entries. When sharing one large stage-2 IO pagetable across physical IOMMU instances, that one ID may not always be available across all the IOMMU instances. In other word, it's ideal for SW to have a different container for the stage-2 IO pagetable so it can hold another ID that's available. And this container will be able to hold some advanced feature too. [PATCH v2 0/3] rust: kunit: Support KUnit tests with a user-space like syntax

While Rust doctests are already converted to KUnit tests and run, they're really better suited for examples, rather than as first-class unit tests. There's almost certainly a lot of improvements which can be made -- and there's a fair case to be made for replacing some of this with generated C code which can use the C macros -- but this is hopefully an adequate implementation for now, and the interface can (with luck) remain the same even if the implementation changes. A few small notable missing features: - Attributes (like the speed of a test) are hardcoded to the default value. - Similarly, the module name attribute is hardcoded to NULL.
