This will impede efforts to get armhf benchmarks running on LAVA. The issue is being now tackled by infra, a machine will be set to handle putting together *unsupported* experimental armhf Debian images as a precursor to getting eventually Ubuntu armhf builds supported by offspring. - ARM Server: Preparation work is ongoing, for the roadmap and requirements as well as initial planning for the first steps. Adding -Werror overrides any preceding -Wno-error flag. -Werror really should only be added in subdirectory Makefiles if the code in that directory is super-clean. The exact behaviour of GCC with -Werror *will* change between different compiler versions -- this is not a bug. It explicitly allows GCC to fail to compile code which might be correct. There seems to be no good way to override -Werror in a subdirectory Makefile from higher-level Makefiles. You may be able to remove the error behaviour for individual warnings with -Wno-error=<warning>, but it's not really a good idea to do this at the top level because it will affect the whole kernel. So far as I can see, the warnings/errors you get probably indicate real issues in the code. It doesn't look like a compiler bug, or a problem with Kbuild -- it's just an effect of the way the writers of that subdirectory wrote their Makefile. If you have not already done so, you should check for newer versions of the code which may fix the problems. If there is no newer version, it would be a good idea to fix the source code issues and propose those changes for merging so that the problem gets solved for everyone. You can also simply remove -Werror from DHDCFLAGS in your local build tree. This will allow you to build the kernel, but it won't prevent other people from encountering the same problem. Since this appears to be an issue with an Android kernel tree, I suggest if you have more questions on this you should reply via linaro-dev(a)lists.linaro.org, or ask questions on the #linaro or #linaro-android channels on IRC at chat.freenode.net if you need additional help. Linaro Release 11.11 Postmortem summary

Greetings, Here is the summary for Linaro release 11.11 postmortem and lessons learned. For a detailed release review please visit https://wiki.linaro.org/Cycles/1111/Release/Review Highlights and Key Successes ============================ This month's release was highlighted by the release from the Android team of Ice Cream Sandwich images. Uploaded to youtube, the demonstration of these images running on the Snowball platform gave Linaro some great visibility and publicity. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MQOKPLg3ARE The Android LEB is now based off of Android 2.3.7 with a first release of Versatile Express, using the Linaro ARM LT kernel, a NEON optimized libpng, preliminary DS-5 support and a host of bug fixes and enhancements. The Ubuntu LEB now officially supports the PandaBoard ES and features PandaBoard's USB booting with U-Boot USB-SPL. Developers have access to updated ARM DS-5 packages, and both source and debug packages for all Linaro's kernels. Also, Firefox can now be cross-built using multi- arch. Even though the cycle was relatively short and included a first week at Linaro Connect, planning went smoothly and the items delivered were interesting and substantive. Communication is an issue that has been re-occurring through the past few release cycles. Platform and Landing teams have proposed a plan to facilitate communications between the teams. Testing is another issue that has high visibility. Testing internal deliveries before hand off is crucial for delivering quality in the final release and will minimize the number of times that images need to be re-spun. Teams are still adjusting to the monthly release cycle. Work estimating is being fine-tuned so that the amount of effort per team per cycle is appropriate. Progress has been made and most of the work scheduled for this cycle was delivered, even with the addition of ICS. There are still a couple of groups that have not entered postmortem comments in the release review wiki page. I think that this driver also works under android. I have some concerns on rtc wakeup. As we know, RTC event doesn't link to timer events in kernel. But Android did. Android transfered timer event to rtc event while it suspend. So it will occupy one rtc device. Whatever the device is phone or tablet, it may cost another rtc device if it wants to implement power-up alarm feature. If we want to support the charger manager feature, we have to add another rtc device. I think that it's very hard to find any current platform with three rtc devices. How about implement the similar mechanism like android? Charger manager can register wakeup event into alarm mechanism like android. And we only need two rtc devices. Capturing HDMI output from a pandaboard running Android 4.0

[ I already asked this question here: http://ask.linaro.org/questions/361/hdmi-output-on-android-build but it was suggested on irc that I ask on the mailing list as well. ] I'm trying to get my pandaboard running the Android 4.0 build of Linaro (https://android-build.linaro.org/builds/~linaro-android/panda/) outputting to an HDMI capture device (specifically a a blackmagic decklink extreme 3d card), but am not having any luck so far. From what I can gather from the schematics (http://www.pandaboard.org/node/222/) and the documentation, I want to hook up to the first HDMI port for this and then switch the primary display to that: http://elinux.org/Panda_How_to_kernel_3_0_rel#Switching_primary_display_to_… However, this isn't giving me any output. I can tell that Android is up and running (I can connect to it via adb or even take a screenshot via ddms). I know the device for capture that I'm using is kind of finnicky (it demands 1920x1024@60hz or nothing, see https://wiki.mozilla.org/Project_Eideticker/DeckLink_Primer), so I tweaked the following settings (after temporarily turning off overlay0, as suggested): echo "tv" > /sys/devices/platform/omapdss/overlay0/manager echo "1920,1024" > /sys/devices/platform/omapdss/overlay0/output_size Is there anything I'm missing? Are there any other platforms (Android 2.3? Ubuntu?) where HDMI output to this kind of device is known to work? I have gotten this capture set up working using an LG G2X phone (http://masalalabs.ca/2011/11/measuring-what-the-user-sees/), so I know it should be possible in principle. Latest Linaro X11 source tree

Hi everyone, I am creating a thin Linux environment for a SoC based on the Samsung EXYNOS4. I have already tried the ALIP image (alip-n-tar-20111024-0.tar.gz), and seemingly, all of the pre-compiled binaries seem to work including X11 (executes but needs further reconfiguring for my platform). Now I want to rebuild the same X11 source that came along with this ALIP image. Can anyone point me where I can download this ported X11 source tree? TIA, Vic

End to end audio test - initial drop

Hi everyone, Last week I did an initial drop of the end to end audio test we have been discussing. The idea is fairly simple, play a sine wave and test the audio stack by sampling/testing the sine back in via loopback cable. The app is called testfreq and is driven by a script called e2eaudiotest. It opens and configures the audio device, takes a sample and then does a discrete fourier transformation to find the frequency using the fftw3 library. The test script driver uses speaker-test to play a sine wave at A 440, which for now is the test frequency. It's still basic at this point, but it does work on my system. There is a lot of additional things I'd like to do, initial stack configuration, passing in the device, passing the test frequency, doing more auto detection, clean up the code, etc, but I wanted to start getting feedback.
