You do know about: git show -s --abbrev-commit --abbrev=12 --pretty=format:"%h ("%s")%n" right? That makes this a lot more uniform...

Anyway, can you resend this request and cc: the developers and maintainers of the above patches, so I can get their approval to backport such things?
