How about we just revert this patch? It seems to be causing too many problems to require all of these "core" patches to be added. Would that resolve the issue?
Sorry about that, the subject line should be "for v4.9-stable".
I'm fine with reverting the patch. However, I can see that there are other drivers calling devm_reset_control_get_optional() where these patches may be needed.
