Would it be possible to listen / respond to stable release candidate announcements, by any chance ? That would make it more likely for people to notice, especially if there are build / test errors.
Sure, but I think we're doing that now (unless I don't understand what you're asking). We're currently testing two aspects of the stable kernel:
1) Anytime stable-rc changes in the latest release branch (linux-5.0.y) 2) Anytime the list of patches in the queue for the latest branch (queue-5.0 directory) changes
We could possibly wait for the announcement email itself and run our tests once we see it, but it would delay the results a bit. We're watching the repo now and we begin running tests as soon as it changes so that we can reply with results as quickly as possible.
