Subject: mm/damon/sysfs: check DAMOS regions update progress from before_terminate()
Date: Sat, 7 Oct 2023 20:04:32 +0000
DAMON_SYSFS can receive DAMOS tried regions update request while kdamond
is already out of the main loop and before_terminate callback
(damon_sysfs_before_terminate() in this case) is not yet called. And
damon_sysfs_handle_cmd() can further be finished before the callback is
invoked. Then, damon_sysfs_before_terminate() unlocks damon_sysfs_lock,
which is not locked by anyone. This happens because the callback function
assumes damon_sysfs_cmd_request_callback() should be called before it.
Check if the assumption was true before doing the unlock, to avoid this
problem.

Patches currently in -mm which might be from sj(a)kernel.org are
mm-damon-sysfs-check-damos-regions-update-progress-from-before_terminate.patch
Fix four issues with resctrl selftests.
The signal handling fix became necessary after the mount/umount fixes
and the uninitialized member bug was discovered during the review.
The other two came up when I ran resctrl selftests across the server
fleet in our lab to validate the upcoming CAT test rewrite (the rewrite
is not part of this series).
These are developed and should apply cleanly at least on top the
benchmark cleanup series (might apply cleanly also w/o the benchmark
series, I didn't test).
v4:
- Use func(void) for functions taking no arguments
- Correct Fixes tag formatting
v3:
- Add fix to uninitialized sa_flags
- Handle ksft_exit_fail_msg() in per test functions
- Make signal handler register fails to also exit
- Improve changelogs
v2:
- Include patch to move _GNU_SOURCE to Makefile to allow normal #include
placement
- Rework the signal register/unregister into patch to use helpers
- Fixed incorrect function parameter description
- Use return !!res to avoid confusing implicit boolean conversion
- Improve MBA/MBM success bound patch's changelog
- Tweak Cc: stable dependencies (make it a chain).
Ilpo Järvinen (7):
selftests/resctrl: Fix uninitialized .sa_flags
selftests/resctrl: Extend signal handler coverage to unmount on
receiving signal
selftests/resctrl: Remove duplicate feature check from CMT test
selftests/resctrl: Move _GNU_SOURCE define into Makefile
selftests/resctrl: Refactor feature check to use resource and feature

From: Arnd Bergmann <arnd(a)arndb.de>
These functions are simple wrappers around memcmp() and memcpy(), which
contain compile-time checks for buffer overflow. Something in gcc-13 and
likely other versions makes this trigger a warning when the functions
are not inlined and the compiler misunderstands the buffer length:
In file included from net/bluetooth/hci_event.c:32:
In function 'bacmp',
inlined from 'hci_conn_request_evt' at net/bluetooth/hci_event.c:3276:7:
include/net/bluetooth/bluetooth.h:364:16: error: 'memcmp' specified bound 6 exceeds source size 0 [-Werror=stringop-overread]
364 | return memcmp(ba1, ba2, sizeof(bdaddr_t));
| ^~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Use the __always_inline annotation to ensure that the helpers are
correctly checked. This has no effect on the actual correctness
of the code, but avoids the warning. Since the patch that introduced
the warning is marked for stable backports, this one should also
go that way to avoid introducing build regressions.

Commit b5c75b68b7de ("comedi: add HAS_IOPORT dependencies") changed the
"select" directives to "depend on" directives for several config
stanzas, but the options they depended on could not be selected,
breaking previously selected options. Change them back to "select"
directives and add "depends on HAS_IOPORT" to config entries for modules
that either use inb()/outb() and friends directly, or (recursively)
depend on modules that do so.

Subject: [PATCH] ata: libata: disallow dev-initiated LPM transitions to
unsupported states
MIME-Version: 1.0
Content-Type: text/plain; charset=UTF-8
Content-Transfer-Encoding: 8bit
In AHCI 1.3.1, the register description for CAP.SSC:
"When cleared to ‘0’, software must not allow the HBA to initiate
transitions to the Slumber state via agressive link power management nor
the PxCMD.ICC field in each port, and the PxSCTL.IPM field in each port
must be programmed to disallow device initiated Slumber requests."
In AHCI 1.3.1, the register description for CAP.PSC:
"When cleared to ‘0’, software must not allow the HBA to initiate
transitions to the Partial state via agressive link power management nor
the PxCMD.ICC field in each port, and the PxSCTL.IPM field in each port
must be programmed to disallow device initiated Partial requests."
Ensure that we always set the corresponding bits in PxSCTL.IPM, such that
a device is not allowed to initiate transitions to power states which are
unsupported by the HBA.
DevSleep is always initiated by the HBA, however, for completeness, set the
corresponding bit in PxSCTL.IPM such that agressive link power management
cannot transition to DevSleep if DevSleep is not supported.
sata_link_scr_lpm() is used by libahci, ata_piix and libata-pmp.
However, only libahci has the ability to read the CAP/CAP2 register to see
if these features are supported. Therefore, in order to not introduce any
regressions on ata_piix or libata-pmp, create flags that indicate that the
respective feature is NOT supported. This way, the behavior for ata_piix
and libata-pmp should remain unchanged.
This change is based on a patch originally submitted by Runa Guo-oc.
