Subject: [PATCH] drm/i915/display: Fix the 12 BPC bits for PIPE_MISC reg
MIME-Version: 1.0
Content-Type: text/plain; charset=UTF-8
Content-Transfer-Encoding: 8bit
Till DISPLAY12 the PIPE_MISC bits 5-7 are used to set the
Dithering BPC, with valid values of 6, 8, 10 BPC.
For ADLP+ these bits are used to set the PORT OUTPUT BPC, with valid
values of: 6, 8, 10, 12 BPC, and need to be programmed whether
dithering is enabled or not.
This patch:
-corrects the bits 5-7 for PIPE MISC register for 12 BPC.
-renames the bits and mask to have generic names for these bits for
dithering bpc and port output bpc.
v3: Added a note for MIPI DSI which uses the PIPE_MISC for readout
for pipe_bpp. (Uma Shankar)
v2: Added 'display' to the subject and fixes tag. (Uma Shankar)

Subject: [PATCH] drm/amd/display: Fix OLED brightness control on eDP
MIME-Version: 1.0
Content-Type: text/plain; charset=UTF-8
Content-Transfer-Encoding: 8bit
[Why]
After commit ("drm/amdgpu/display: add support for multiple backlights")
number of eDPs is defined while registering backlight device.
However the panel's extended caps get updated once before register call.
That leads to regression with extended caps like oled brightness control.
[How]
Update connector ext caps after register_backlight_device

Subject: [PATCH] drm/amd/display: Get backlight from PWM if DMCU is not
initialized
On Carrizo/Stoney systems we set backlight through panel_cntl, i.e.
directly via the PWM registers, if DMCU is not initialized. We
always read it back through ABM registers which leads to a
mismatch and forces atomic_commit to program the backlight
each time.
Instead make sure we use the same logic for backlight readback,
i.e. read it from panel_cntl if DMCU is not initialized.
We also need to remove some extraneous and incorrect calculations
at the end of dce_get_16_bit_backlight_from_pwm.

I am deeply puzzled by this cherry-pick.
The purpose of this patch was to fix fc97b4d6a1a6 ("HID: playstation:
expose DualSense lightbar through a multi-color LED.")
So unless this patch gets backported in stable (and this is *not* a
request to do so), bringing in this patch in 5.15 is wrong.
