KVM could cache everything above this to avoid the cost of regenerating it on every read. It would require allocating some extra memory in the kernel though, so it's not free. But if userspace is reading stats for every vCPU every second it could be worth it.
Stats descriptors are only read one time for every VM and VCPU during a VM boot. No cache is needed.

Does this need to be globally unique? I was going to suggest using the id ("kvm-%d/vcpu-%d") but the slash is probably not allowed. It would be nice though to have the file name the same as the id though so maybe change the id and name to something like "kvm-%d.vcpu-%d"?
The name passed into anon_inode_getfile is called a "class name" used for dentry names which is associated with the anonymous inode.
