Google hangout not working in debian sid/testing

hi, first of all, this isn't meant to be a distro trolling discussion, there are better places for that ;-) several days ago google HO started to fail after updating my debian/sid setup. as discussed on G+ [1] and on googlegroups [2], that seemed to be impacting anyone on debian/sid. when i realized that it was working on debian/testing (Jessie) i decided just use 'testing'... however since last evening update on 'testing', it started to fail too.. leaving me without any working HO at all, which is quite inconvenient at Linaro.. after bisecting my system using snapshot.debian.org, i figured out which package was the culprit: # apt-cache policy libcairo2 libcairo2: Installed: 1.12.14-4 Candidate: 1.12.14-4 Package pin: 1.12.14-4 Version table: 1.12.16-2 1001 500 http://ftp.fr.debian.org/debian/ testing/main amd64 Packages *** 1.12.14-4 1001 500 http://snapshot.debian.org/archive/debian/20130927T214600Z/testing/main amd64 Packages 100 /var/lib/dpkg/status Simply downgrading libcairo2 [3] 'fixes' the problem. I know it's not 'fixing' it really, but i hope that this will be enough information so that the real fix is uploaded. [Script]: Get isolation time of a CPU with NO_HZ_FULL

Hi Kevin, I have updated the script you shared here: https://wiki.linaro.org/WorkingGroups/PowerManagement/Doc/AdaptiveTickless?… to get the time for which cpu wasn't getting interrupted. Probably this might be useful for few other folks as well and so sharing it.. I am bad at scripting, so please ignore silly code in there :) So, the script will take a parameter, i.e. number of samples you need and will output the amount of time CPU1 (of a dual-core machine) was isolated. There is a variable "isdebug", which can be used to enable/disable debug messages. Let me know if there is something really stupid in it :) -- viresh

Ubuntu-based image for use with foundation model

Hi all, Do we have, or do we have plans for, an image that's based on Ubuntu that's usable with the foundation model? The only part I don't know how to do for myself is build the .axf file, which I guess I can teach myself but it would be even easier to just download something :-) Cheers, mwh

Heap reclaim question/documentation

Hi, Just wondering if somebody could point me to a good document on how the heap reclamation algorithm works for memory allocated in a user space program using the regular malloc/calloc functions. I am specifically interested in how effective it is in reclaiming memory. E.g., does it only reclaim from top of heap or does it reclaim from the complete heap? Are there multiple options for reclamation algorithms? Etc. X11 crash on Cotton Candy

I couldn't find a Cotton Candy-specific forum. Perhaps someone here will have advice. My apologies if I'm off-topic. I'm using Linaro on the FXI Cotton Candy. At least every few hours, it experiences an X server crash, which logs me out. Here is an example syslog message from the time of the crash: Nov 20 08:27:46 linaro-ubuntu-desktop gnome-session[3350]: Gdk-WARNING: gnome-session: Fatal IO error 11 (Resource temporarily unavailable) on X server :0.#012 A brief search online suggests this may be a problem with the video driver. But I'm not sure. I will be very glad of any assistance. The crash is intermittent and difficult to reproduce. It seems to happen when I'm 'doing something', e.g. opening a new window, clicking a link or scrolling in Firefox, resizing a window, or viewing a photo attached to email. It does not seem to crash when the machine is idle. I'm running Linaro (Ubuntu-beta-20130309.zip from FXI's Web site), which I reinstalled earlier this week then did 'apt-get update' and 'apt-get upgrade', and configured in various simple ways (e.g. software firewall, wireless networks, software installations using apt). The X server crash has happened before and after the reinstallation. Without a swap file, there were some out of memory problems. I added a swapfile, which removed the out of memory problems. The X server still crashes. I've also emailed FXI support but have not yet heard. one exception about "aplay" on ARM64

Hi, expert: Recently, I encounter a tricky issue when using "aplay" to playback music on arm64 core, but "aplay" application and "alsa-lib" are 32 bit version. The exception happens and it results in "aplay" segment fault. I tried to root cause it thought adding some logs, but I don't catch it. Any suggestion will be appreciated! Thanks! 1. Aplay will call the "writei" function in alsa-lib. This function is used to transfer audio sample from user space to kernel space. It will be called many times. This issue maybe happened when calling this function at the first time.
