[RFC] Testing new Ubuntu EC2 package sources on Android Build

Hello, We're having from time to time issues with initializing builds slaves due to issue with Ubuntu EC2 package mirror problems. Ubuntu EC2 team is aware of the problem and invites us to participate in testing a new mirror which should solve these issues. More details are in: https://bugs.launchpad.net/linaro-android-infrastructure/+bug/932088 I guess it's a good move to help test this new mirror, so I'd like to see if anyone has big concerns with that, and otherwise I'll add it to my queue. The change should be transparent to Android Build users, and if we see any issues (like higher error rate than usual), we can easily revert. [ANN] Support for fetching build configs from git for Android Builds

Hello, As the result of implementation of https://blueprints.launchpad.net/linaro-android-infrastructure/+spec/build-… , android-build.linaro.org now can indirectly fetch build config stored in a git repository. To achieve that, bootstrap config (as specified in android-build.linaro.org) should contain reference to config's repo/branch/file (configuration variables are modeled on the similar MANIFEST_* ones), e.g.: BUILD_CONFIG_REPO=git://git.linaro.org/people/pfalcon/android/linaro/build-… BUILD_CONFIG_BRANCH=master BUILD_CONFIG_FILENAME=panda-ics-gcc46-tilt-tracking-blob.conf http://android.git.linaro.org/gitweb?p=linaro/build-configs.git;a=summary was created to store configs for the official builds in the Gerrit tree. MC34708 : i.MX53 support

Hi, I would like to know if there is some plan to support the new revision of the i.MX53 ? There is a new PMIC so USB and others devices don't work anymore until this support. There is the support from FreeScale opensource repository and others repository but the version of the kernel is totally different from Linaro (2.6.38 for example for FreeScale and 3.1 for Linaro) but it seems to be the only solution to "adapt" the code from theses repository ... Hello, Please take a few minutes and fill in your reports. Note that the team status is distributed widely and is of great interest for many stakeholders. The team status is what I extract from your reports, and the more I have to work with, the better it can get. So please don't be too terse, use a couple of more words than the absolute minimum for a full English sentence:) This is also a good opportunity to check your bugs and blueprints. Make sure they are up-to-date and reflect reality. If nothing has happened to the work item, maybe there is a story behind this that can be told as a comment? For the bug reports, If you have managed to resolve a bug and can put it in state "Fix Committed" Please make sure the following data is included: - Reference to an official build that has been verified to not have the bug - An explanation of how this verification took place. Personally I also appreciate when someone explains how the root cause was found. Such knowledge sharing can help other team members, and it can reassure sceptics that the applied logic is sound. Example: Bug title: Feature X does not work on board Y. Final comment: Feature X works on build Z for board Y, verified by demonstrating that App Q now can play a .xyz file. The reason was an overflow in the 16-bit beancounter, and the bug was found by examining logcat output when decoding .xyz files with increasing sample rates. Android ICS on pandaboard es

Hi all, In order to bring-up my panda-es, I was trying to repo sync sources from linaro repositories. But, thats giving me error. repo init -u git://git.linaro.org/platform/manifest.git -b linaro_android_4.0.3 -m landing-panda.xml The above command is returning me an error: fatal: The remote end hung up unexpectedly I thought that aosp-master 'https://android.googlesource.com/platform/manifest' should be working fine with the panda-es. But, there were two problems: 1. 'usbboot' provided with the source is not detecting my board. 2. I'm not sure about the sources of boot-loaders. (and I don't want to use fast-boot method). 3. Till now I'm unable to patch linaro u-boot (u-boot-linaro-stable) in such a way that it should work with my aosp-AFS and aosp-kernel. So, right now I'm clueless.!! :) I would really appreciate any help on this. Thanks a lot. Regards, Ashwini Singh

[DOWNTIME] Android Build is down due to Ubuntu's sun-java6 package revocation

Hello, Recently, Ubuntu revoked sun-java6-* packages following retirement of its license: https://lists.ubuntu.com/archives/ubuntu-security-announce/2012-January/001… It propagated to the repositories we use for android-build.linaro.org slaves on this weekend. The end effect of this besides builds not being able to proceed, is slave pile-up issue, as Jenkins, seeing an initialization error for one slave, tries to start another, all going in cycles. As it's pretty late in here, the action I'm taking is disabling builds altogether, to proceed with resolving this first thing in the morning (access to previous builds is still available). Proposed actions are: 1. Install sun-java6-* from cached .deb's as risk-mitigating measure while analyzing the issue. 2. Consider/test switching to OpenJDK, as recommended by https://wiki.ubuntu.com/LucidLynx/ReleaseNotes/Java6Transition .
